so the kitchen isn't unpacked. but today did score us some fabulous patio furniture! we found a great set at target, but they were sold out of the table in our area. so my parents picked one up for us at their local store. did i mention my parents are amazing?
we also found the cold stone creamery in town, and i learned they now have an oreo creme filling ice cream. yumm-o. i'm sure it's only for a limited time, so you should go try it right away. it's seriously fabulous.

lin: day 2
my bedroom is well put together, and my computer is functional in the office. i spent about 8 hours on unpacking today, and then spent the evening relaxing. well, as relaxing as losing two games of FRIENDS SceneIt can be. that's right, i lost TWICE! i will be demanding a rematch in the days to come.
there's a chinese restaurant that will deliver to our neighborhood, and they don't even charge a delivery fee. not a shabby way to get dinner.
tomorrow: the kitchen, perhaps?

lin: day 1
moving day!
my parents are, by far, the most amazing people i know. it occurred to me early this morning (as i'm following my dad, who's driving my u-haul) that while i don't know how to fight, i would totally take out anyone who argued with me about how fabulous my father is. he & my mom helped me do so much today. and even if he says "that's what old men are for," i am so blessed to have such amazing parents.
and i got to see patti today! she & maya stopped by on their way to ellie's softball game. it was so nice to be able to see her again before leaving town.
marlana greeted me today with a big hug, a huge smile, a balloon bouquet and the friends scene it game. :) this still feels pretty surreal. any bets on how long it takes me tomorrow morning to realize where i am when i wake up?

office, day one
so i gave my office a run through for packing & purging yesterday. i've got a box of stuff for a garage sale ... but still a lot of stuff that i think i should keep. that's not a good sign. i did get rid of all of my CDs (thank you, dan & everyone else!) and a few of the VHS tapes. but my filing cabinet is covered in squares of fabric that i cut for a scrap quilt. granted, i cut those squares over a year ago, and i haven't sewn any of them together, yet ... but i do really trash them? if i decide to quilt, i'd rather finish up other projects first. but a lot of work went into cutting all those squares! and speaking of fabric ... can i purge part of my stash? i've got two or three big plastic bins of fabric downstairs. a lot of which i'll probably never use, but it came from my grandma. i don't know that i want to get rid of grandma's fabric. even if it is peach interlock. :)
i've got a variety of colored cardstock that i question, too. why don't they sell that in smaller packages? i love paper. and i know i'll want to use it as soon as i let it go. but right now i'm thinking i probably don't really need to move it. maybe i could design my move cards in such a way that i can use a variety of cardstocks to print on. hmmmm.
i've got a couple of big picture frames, too, that i've never done anything with. but they're really nice frames. and i MIGHT do something with them, right? sigh. this is the kind of thing i'm wanting to avoid.
i did, however, find a CD of old photos from work. :)

yeah ...
as a side note, after doing all that "thinking about packing" ... i played about an hour's worth of mario kart followed by piecing together a 500 piece puzzle while listening to law & order: criminal intent episodes. it wasn't super productive, but it was a nice way to spend the evening. :)
and now that i've done the puzzle, i can verify that all the pieces are there when i give it away! see, it WAS productive!

one click
i've known about my upcoming move to indianapolis for a solid three weeks. before that i had a pretty strong inkling, but the final decision was made three weeks ago today. and while head knowledge is all well & good ... today i finally had a practical Click in my mind. maybe it was seeing my sister & brother's stuff get moved out of my basement. or maybe it was making the news official at work. but i'm ready to start packing. or, at least, thinking seriously about packing. i mean, the move is three weeks away, let's not get crazy ahead of ourselves. :)
and i'm thinking - how much do i really need to move? i've been assuming i'll be renting a uhaul. but ... now i'm wondering if i can downsize into my dad's pick-up truck and my own car. perhaps i would be best served selling off my sofa & love seat, instead of moving them. i mean, they're nice and i've enjoyed them ... but frankly, i've sat in that love seat with other people, and i've never felt any really loving feelings suddenly bubble up. and given the fact i won't need it in indy, why move it? and the table that sits between the sofa & love seat? and the microwave & spare tv downstairs? okay, so those last two aren't actually mine, but if i'm going to sell off some other stuff, perhaps my parents would like me to sell those, too, and they can make a little money, as well.
that sentence had a lot of commas in it. i would not be surprised if it's not grammatically correct.
and the CD tower i have? i haven't listened to probably 96% of those CDs in the past five years. most of them haven't been touched since i copied the music onto my computer. i doubt that any used CD place would be interested in a selection of Christian music from the 90's ... but it'd be worth a phone call to find out.
i know i'm going to weed through my books. my case in the living room is full, and i know there's a box or two upstairs. and if i haven't gotten into the ones in the attic in the past two years - why move them again?
i might even (sit down, folks) go through my crafting supplies and pare down what i've got. because again, i've not used most of them in the past 2 years. why keep storing it?
so you may see a lot of "anyone want this?" posts in the coming weeks. because i'm thinking the lighter i can travel, the better.

day of resignation
i turned in my letter of resignation today. i feel like i should say that i'm both scared and excited ... but the truth is, the scared part hasn't hit me, yet. maybe it will. for now, i'm just ridiculously excited. it all seems a little surreal. did i really just spend the day telling people i was leaving the job i've had for nine years? did i really turn in a formal notification of my intent to leave the company in two weeks? did i really spend so much time smiling today that my face muscles hurt?
this is weird. and i like it. :)

long process
look at that - the blog's back. with pictures & everything! that was way more involved that i expected, and i'm not exactly sure how it all ended up getting resolved ... but it's working. and that's a good thing. :)
